KONE, one of the global leaders in elevator andescalator solutions, has signed an agreement for providing theelevators and escalators onboard the most recent TUI Cruises'vessel, the Mein Schiff 4. The new cruise ship will be the sistership of Mein Schiff 3, which will also have KONE's solutionsinstalled onboard. Both vessels will be built at STX Finland, Turkushipyard, the former being set for delivery in the spring of 2014and the latter in the spring of 2015.
KONE's People Flow® solutions will facilitate thesmooth and efficient movement of 3,500 passengers and personnelonboard the Main Schiff 4. KONE will provide a total of 22 unitsfor this vessel, consisting of 10 elevators for passengers and 8elevators for service, two escalators and two platforms for peoplewith impaired mobility. All of the elevators are KONE MiniSpace® elevators with compact machinerooms and are equipped with the latest KONE eco-efficienttechnology, including energy recovery systems. Powered by the KONE EcoDisc® hoisting machine, these solutionsare 50-70% more energy efficient than conventional elevators.
