KONE, a global leader in the elevator andescalator industry, today announced a new solution for residentialdevelopments: KONE Residential Flow. The solution brings new levelsof convenience for homeowners and tenants by using mobile and cloudtechnologies to connect building doors, elevators, informationchannels, and intercom systems via an easy-to-use smartphoneapplication. KONE Residential Flow is being piloted and it iscommercially available in six European countries: Finland, France,Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
"When developing KONE Residential Flow, weinterviewed more than 200 developers, facility managers, andbuilding residents around the world to understand their challengesand needs related to people flow in residential environments. Welearned that many people face challenges with simple tasks likeopening the front door when carrying groceries or receivingdeliveries. KONE Residential Flow takes the stress out of theseeveryday situations and makes arriving home more intuitive," saysTeppo Voutilainen, Head of New Services and Solutions, KONECorporation.
"The solution brings more flexibility andconvenience for building owners and facility managers too, becausethey can easily share building information and manage access rightsfrom anywhere. By making a building the smartest on the block, KONEResidential Flow also helps to improve its value," hecontinues.
There are three packages available: KONE Access,KONE Visit, and KONE Information. KONE Access controls buildingdoors and automatically calls an elevator to take the user to theirhome floor, eliminating the need to carry or use physical keys.KONE Visit includes a connected intercom system that allowsresidents to greet visitors and grant them access using theirsmartphone. The elevator then automatically takes them to theirdestination floor. Importantly, residents can also grant accessremotely, which is very useful for situations like parceldeliveries. With the KONE Information package, facility managerscan send relevant building-related information direct to residents'smartphones, or to the info screens in the elevators or lobby.
The solution is available for both new andexisting buildings.
