KONE recognized for outstanding climate and sustainability performance by both CDP and Corporate Knights

KONE Corporation, a global leader in theelevator and escalator industry, has gained two outstandingrecognitions in climate and sustainability performance. KONE hasachieved a place on CDP's prestigious 'A List' for Climate Changeas the only elevator and escalator company, demonstrating thecompany's actions to cut emissions, mitigate climate risks anddevelop a low-carbon economy. KONE is in the top 2% of thethousands of companies that disclose their environmental datathrough CDP. In addition, KONE has been recognized as one of themost sustainable companies in the world by Corporate Knights Inc.,ranking 32nd in their 2020 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporationsin the World ranking. KONE improved its position on the list by 11compared to previous year, when it ranked 43rd.

KONE has disclosed through CDP for 11 yearsand has received a leadership score of A or A- for sevenconsecutive years. CDP is a global environmental impact non-profitorganization that runs an environmental disclosure system thatenables companies, cities, states and regions to measure and managetheir environmental impacts. Their annual environmental disclosureand scoring process is widely recognized as the gold standard ofcorporate environmental transparency. Each year, a detailed andindependent methodology is used by CDP to assess these companies,allocating a score of A to D- based on the comprehensiveness ofdisclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks anddemonstration of best practices associated with environmentalleadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets. In2019, over 8,400 companies disclosed environmental data throughCDP, and the reporting companies represent more than 50% of globalmarket capitalization.

KONE was the only elevator and escalatorcompany to make the Corporate Knights' 2020 Global 100 MostSustainable Corporations in the World ranking. The company rankedsecond among its 234 global category peers in the "MachineryManufacturing" Corporate Knights IndustryGroup.

Corporate Knights Inc. is a leadingsustainable business magazine and ranking organization. The 2020Global 100 ranking was formed by analyzing nearly 7,400publicly-listed companies with revenues of over USD 1 billion. Theperformance of companies featured on the list is also comparedagainst the MSCI All Country World Index (ACWI), and according tothe organization, the results indicate that sustainable corporateperformance is consistent with equal or better returns forinvestors and greater corporate longevity. The Corporate Knights'2020 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World rankingwas announced in Davos, Switzerland during the World EconomicForum.
